T3 is more suitable for Estrid as she has bigger ramps.

Quote from: Niall on August 12, 2025, 02:23:24 PMI see that James Joyce is prohibited from using T3 at Holyhead. At present she uses T5 while the Stena Estrid uses T3.

James Joyce is unable to use T3 at the moment because there is still a fender to be replaced and her shorter length means she can't safely berth there.

Anyone know what the tech issue is with Swift?

Probably the same issue she's had for quite some time now and has been causing her to run slower when she does operate.

Its blowing a Gale here in Dublin. My guess is cancelled due to wave height.

From 8th Sept to 2nd Nov, both Stena and Irish Ferries will, once again, operate a revised timetable on the Dublin-Holyhead route to enable maintenance to be carried out at T5 in Holyhead.

Schedules are as follows;

Irish Ferries:
8/9-30/9
Dublin-Holyhead: 0115, 0730, 0730*, 1345, 1350*, 1945
Holyhead-Dublin: 0130, 0730, 1110*, 1315, 1645*, 1930
(* = Dublin Swift)

1/10-2/11
Dublin-Holyhead: 0115, 0730, 1345, 1945
Holyhead-Dublin: 0130, 0730, 1315, 1930

All info believed to be correct according to Irish Ferries booking engine but may be subject to change.

Anyone know why Irish Ferries just doesn't fess up re the Dublin Swift issue - and rework the timetable for each crossing taking 2 hours 40 mins at the present time? Is IF worried re having to pay compensation?

She's only running on 3 engines and anyway her season ends at the end of September

Is a fast ferry still necessary due to the Brexit?  😉

Well she still carries good loads despite her current tech issues

IFPete

She gets you into holyhead before 1000 AM which means you get off the island before the bridge gets clogged.

Dublin Swift's sailings today have been cancelled due to adverse weather and tomorrow's are in doubt. It has also been reported that, from Monday, all of her remaining sailings this season have been cancelled due to 'operational requirements'.

I assume this is due to the ongoing technical problems she is experiencing plus the implementation, from Monday of a temporary timetable again for both operators on the Dublin-Holyhead route due to the need for maintenance on the berths in Holyhead.

I suppose she'll lay up in Barrow for the winter

change of plan Swift afternoon crossing now going ahead currently departing Dublin on time. Quite likely her last return trip of the season.
