Very quick turnaround for Akka on the way back and 22.50 and St Patrick also on the way back to Cork sine 21.30, a good start and as expected AKKA not the best time keeper.

Spotted a Hibernia Line billboard on the way to work this morning. Apparently there a few up around Cork city.

What a great start for Hibernia Line this week with the new two ship service up and running, however there seems to be an issue with the AKKA as it was very late into Boulogne earlier today and has missed its crossing to Cork today. (Should have sailed last night - Friday)

Time keeping was always going to be an issue as it cannot run to the same service speed as St Patrick, one very interesting thing that I spotted this week, the AKKA has a pod propulsion system which while common on cruise ships is very rare on ferries with P&O Pioneer and Liberte the two most recent ferries with pods (as double enders they are more unique again).

Akka back in service tonight as both vessels resume service after the Sunday night lay over

Hibernia have changed their schedule to take account for Akka's inability to keep to the original schedule.
Interestingly they say it will be for 3/5 months which more or less covers Akka's charter.

Sensible change to make, no point always running behind schedule, Akka was never going to be able to match the St Patrick for speed, they have been doing very quick turnarounds so far which would suggest loadings have been light for the first crossings as well, good job that they have deep pockets providing the resources to keep everything going.

(Thought I was reading it wrong also, the arrivals into Boulogne are backwards, should be arriving 19.30 - depart at 22.00)

Looks like the St Patrick has gone technical being escorted back to Ringaskiddy and Akka is on the way in from Cherbourg,(edit of course Boulogne )both ferries could be together in Cork harbour this evening.
