Hard to believe that not many years ago Brittany Ferries had just 1 weekly sailing from Ireland. Saturday departure on the Cork-Roscoff route. Great to see how they have grown their presence here.

A Brexit benefit.

IF/BF are only 20/30 minutes of free wifi. Not sure about Stena, but a phone will still connect to the phone network which is separate.

On my last crossing with BF Rosslare to Bilbao I got two allotments of free WiFi due to the crossing spanning two days...one allotment for each day.

The ferry service is running again from Holyhead, although only partially because only half of the berths are opened.

Local retailers have complained that the lack of service has hit the local economy really badly. Having a "avoid Brexit" route between France and Ireland doesn't help Holyhead either.

And Anglesey voted overwhelmingly for Brexit.

Contentin will operate 6 days a week on Rosslare Cherbourg route. Her place on Portsmouth Le Havre will be taken by Barfleur until she is replaced by Normandie next spring.

Its not appearing on the BF passenger timetable yet so just wondering will these extra sailings be freight only?

Yes...it is showing on the freight timetable but as 5 sailings on the first week starting the 4th 3 sailings the week after that and then 2 there after...maybe they are still juggling other schedules with winter lay up etc.

Dublin Swift would not meet your requirements as she does not have passenger cabins.

The ships were named after "Saints" in the early days, then the "Isle of..." names came in after they bought out B&I. The Irish Naval service started naming their ships after poets, playwrights and authors (nicknamed the Dead Poets by the Naval Service), so that causes a lot of confusion - there is an LÉ W.B. Yeats (navy) and MV W.B. Yeats (IF). I'd imagine they will stick with the Isle names for Dover.

That said, personally think it would be nice to have a ship named after Lady Gregory.

The Navy version is LÉ William Butler Yeats...lots of brass letters on the name plates for the crew to keep polished.

She spent about four days at anchor at Panama awaiting to transit the canal.

Salamanca making a stop at Brest tomorrow for a crew change on her way from Bilbao to Rosslare.

Galicia to take over the Rosslare-Bilbao route from November this year replacing Conemara.

BF Spanish timetable for 22/23 is now open for booking. It's showing Salamanca taking over from Connemara. Connemaras last sailing from Rosslare is on 6th November. Looks like Galicia won't be on the route til April 2023.

Looks like Salamanca is taking over the route today, on her way to Rosslare and departed Cherbourg after Connemara arrived.

I can see a few familiar faces in the building hall and my favourite gantry crane operator  ;D

Yes the engines can operate on conventional fuel but does she have the fuel tanks to do that , any info about her propulsion system seems to be about LNG and nothing else .

Honfleur and WB Yeats working in tandem on the Dublin Cherbourg route would represent a powerful commercial statement and commitment to the Ireland France link.

Honfleur was built to operate on LNG with a pretty unique system of LNG tanks delivered by road transport from an LNG terminal in France and loaded onboard using the ships own gantry crane, if IF  ferries were to operate her they would be very limited  as to what route she could operate on. She was built with only one route in mind for Brittany Ferries Portsmouth/Caen .
