Travelling out of Ringaskiddy Cork July 24/25/26 - Expect Delays

Just a heads up in case anyone is travelling out of Ringaskiddy on the weekend of July 24th/25th/26th - There will be a major road closure on Carrs Hill the main road from/to Carrigaline - Ringaskiddy areas - you can expect delays.

I would allow a lot of extra time as if there is any incident on the other roads being used for the diversion there will be total chaos, the trucks are going to be using a road that's barely wide enough for two trucks to pass between Fivemile and Carrigaline (a section of that road had to be closed this week as the surface of  tar and stone chippings melted in the heat) and the other roads being used are always busy anyway.

Thanks for the heads up! Traffic on Carrs Hill is often bad but with the ongoing work its a nightmare at the moment.
An alternative route to Ringaskiddy that we've used a few times is to head down via Passage, Monkstown and Shanbally.

Yes, traffic on Carrs Hill and the N40 ring road is very bad at the moment.

Not wanting to be negative but it will be horrendous that weekend, also scheduled to be closed is the road from Douglas-Donnybrook / Ballinrea-Carrigaline which is closing for six weeks from Monday for ESB cable laying works for the new Solar Farm, hopefully they will be able to reopen that road at weekends if they are not doing anything to allow traffic to move.

There is no easy time to close a road for major roadworks it will all be for the greater good, just hope the ferry companies have been told so they can alert their passengers, I would suggest allowing an extra two hours, would rather be in Ringaskiddy having some food and refreshments than sat in a car stressed to the last thinking you are going to miss a ferry.
